Join us for BroadBand's 20th annual Celebration of Women in Music at the Black Sea Hall on Sunday March 4th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. All proceeds from this event will support Hospice Niagara's Programs and Services.
BroadBand is an exciting and eclectic group of five versatile Niagara musicians. Violinist Beth Bartley doubles on mandolin and flute. Guitarist Jeff Hale also plays percussion, and singer Betsy Tauro plays percussion, guitar, bass and piano. As well as being an accomplished pianist, Neva Tesolin plays accordion and banjo, and percussionist-drummer Laura Thomas has been known to dust off her old comet for special occasions. Everyone Sings!
Through the years they have concentrated on writing and performing original repertoire. Concerts feature both individual voices and rich five-part harmony. BroadBand sings a capella and with a wide variety of instrumental accompaniments in folk, rock, blues, Cajun and Celtic styles. Their performances throughout Niagara and southern Ontario feature a well-balanced blend of inspiration, humour, political satire, and a love of music.
BroadBand came together in 1993 at a benefit concert for Women's Place St. Catharines, and have been performing together ever since. 19 years later with two CDs, dozens of fundraising performances, and even more performances around Niagara, and from Toronto to London, they are still performing together.
Tickets are $20 each/pay as you can, and can be purchased at The Peanut Mill (191 Welland Avenue, St. Catharines), Ryson's Music (5 Court Street, St. Catharines) and Hospice Niagara.
